A plaque, at Lyness pier on the island of Hoy, was unveiled to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the raising of the SMS Hindenburg by Jon Moore the grandson of Ernest Cox. Ernest Cox was a marine salvage expert and against all odds managed, using pioneering salvage methods still used to this day, to salvage 32 of the German warships scuttled in Scapa Flow. In attendance at the small ceremony was Jon's family and friends. |

The Selbro resource centre is open on a Wednesday every week for the foreseeable future.Situated at Hatston in the old Kynoch building the centre is open to the public to show off aids that are available to help people with their disabilities. Ranging from jar openers to orthopedic beds all available locally. |

A world war two Spitfire payed a flying visit to Orkney rekindling memories of Orkney in the war time. It was on display at Kirkwall Airport, touch and go at Skeabrae then a display over Kirkwall bay in the evening. |

The Orkney heat of the Young Enterprise Companies took place in the King Street halls Kirkwall.Four teams competed for the title of Orkney Young Enterprise company of the year. This year the winners were "Alvis" a Stromness Academy team. "Alvis" will travel to Glasgow for the Scottish final later in the year. |
The West End Theatre Group's first ever production The King and I is a must see production. The dancing, singing ,acting ,producing and direction is way beyond the expectations of an amateur production. Brilliant and exceptional. |
